- in 2004, Jason returned to his native Kincardine after having been part of the creative music scene in Boston for nearly ten years. While there, he had the opportunity to perform with a host of jazz luminaries including Bob Brookmeyer, George Garzone, Jimmy Heath, Joe Lovano, Jim McNeely, Bob Moses, Dick Oatts, Danilo Perez and Kenny Wheeler. Jason was a member of George Russell?s Living Time Orchestra, the Artie Shaw Orchestra, and has appeared at venues throughout the United States, Canada, and in Europe. He has also been featured on dozens of recordings, most notably with Guaranteed Swahili, Dead Cat Bounce, Kakalla, Patrice Williamson, and on the Boston Modern Orchestra Project?s Journey into Jazz. Jason received his Masters degree at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, Danilo Perez, and Cecil McBee. He received his Bachelor of Music from Montreal's McGill University, where he was a member of the McGill Jazz Orchestra I under the direction of Gordon Foote. Jason has maintained a busy performing career since his return to Canada, having performed with Michael Bubl?, the Temptations, Barry Elmes, Lorne Lofsky, singer-songwriter Kate Schutt, and as a member of several local bands including Sploink, the Noodle Factory Jazz Orchestra, and the Stardust Big Band.
